Since the end of the 2002 UEFA Champions League, Iker Casillas held the post of Spain’s number one goalkeeper. He was an impressing player and was constantly rising since the event.
Casillas won the post of official goalkeeper of Spain’s national team. He won 2008’s Eurocup, defeating the Germans heroically. From that on, his career flew higher.
Sara Carbonero, Spanish sports journalist. She was the current girlfriend of the Spanish goalkeeper. Strange? No one got surprised that the Fury’s number one swept the world’s sexiest journalist of 2009 off her feet.

Present; World Cup’s final; Spain, for the first time on a final. He was there. Iker Casillas. Goalkeeper and captain. Responsability? To carry a whole country on his gloves. That was his moment to shine.
She was there as well. She ignored the Spanish supporters that blamed her for the loss on their first match, for having distracted her boyfriend, what led to Spain losing to weak Switzerland.

FIFA’s president and the South African president went from player to player, to greet them, with the captain of each team introducing them, as the protocol says.
The first half started. And she stayed on the same place she was on the first match, behind the Spanish goal.
Casillas didn’t take his eyes off the ball. With incredible defences, he didn’t let anything pass by the poles. The Dutch, the opponents, couldn’t find a way to make the ball pass the goalkeeper. But the colleagues of the “Spanish wall” weren’t helping. Just like the Dutch, the Spanish strikers couldn’t find a gap on the goal. Conclusion: first half, nil-nil.

The second half started with lots of opportunities for the Spanish team. But on their way to the goal was Stekelenburg, the Dutch goalkeeper, which, just like Iker, was highly inspired. But the clearer chances of goal were those of the “Mechanic Orange”. Robben had two opportunities to end the hope of the Eurocup’s champion. But who was there? Casillas saved the two goals with miraculous reflexes and impressing ability. It was ninety minutes of too much aggression and too many cards. But no goal. Nil-nil. Extra time. After ninety anxious minutes it would be the last chance to end the World Cup without going to the penalty shootouts. The twenty two players would have thirty minutes to make history.
The first half of the extra time started, against with Spanish pressure. But Sneijder’s team protected itself well and didn’t give in. The game was tied and both teams were aggressive. None managed to surpass the two walls called Stekelenburg and Casillas. End of first half of the extra time and it was still nil to both teams. Without doubt, the goalkeepers were the highlights of the game until that moment.
The second half started, as always, with the Spanish team showing the reason for the nickname ‘Fury’. With splendid passes from mid-pitch, Fábregas magically passed the ball to Iniesta, which didn’t waste it and shook the Dutch goal.
The players on the Spanish bench went to celebrate with the goal’s author.
The Dutch moaned about an impediment, which didn’t exist. This led to the Mechanic Orange losing their heads. Still, they didn’t stop believing in a goal, which would take them to the penalty shootouts. But time was passing. Casillas, even before the final whistle, had happy tears dropping down his face; he would raise the cup.
The referee blew the whistle at the end of the extra time and all Spanish players were in ecstatic with the joy. The Dutch were desolated, unbelieving and extremely sad, for the third time at the end of World Cup, for the third time runners-up. And Spain, for the FIRST on the final, is the champion. The small group of champions gained a new member: the Fury.
The players on the bench invaded the pitch, celebrating the victory.
It was time for the awarding ceremony. The referees were highly criticized during the Cup, with unbelievable mistakes. The final had fourteen cards, one being red. The most violent final in the history of the Cups.
The wretched Dutch walked until the presidents of the FIFA and South Africa and the other members of the organizing committee. Sad smiles were on the faces of each player that shook the hands of those important men.
With every runner-up with their respective medals, it was time for the protagonists to be awarded. The Spanish would receive their medals with big grins on their faces; they were wearing their new official shirt, with a small golden star above their shield.
When they finished giving the medals, FIFA’s president and the South African president went together to give the cup to its new owner, the Spanish captain, Iker Casillas. He kissed the object, which now belonged to the bullfighting land, and raised it.
The Dutch looked from the pitch and applauded the victorious team with heads held high. The Spanish now took in turns the possession of the trophy. Soon they would go down to the pitch to run the victory lap. Red fireworks illuminated the African sky; Soccer City became red, red with Fury.
After the celebration they had on the pitch, Spanish players went to give interviews.
Carbonero went to talk to one of the team’s heroes, Casillas. However, she didn’t know what to say to her boyfriend, she just wanted to give him a kiss and say that she was proud of him, but it wasn’t possible since the link was live. Iker decided to help his lover.
- What do you want me to say? – He asked nearly laughing.
- What are you feeling now?
- I’m very happy. I’m thankful to my family, my parents, my brother. – the goalkeeper was touched.
- Alright, we can talk about the game. – Sara tried to help him, but she wasn’t expecting something.
Iker grabbed his girlfriend and gave her a kiss in the middle of the live link and then went to the changing rooms, leaving the woman there, having to go back to normal and ask the studio journalist to continue the coverage of the final. Also, Carbonero had to face the malicious shouts from other people because of what happened. But at least she relieved the angst of feeling her lover so close yet so far away. Little did she know that the goalkeeper would propose to her when they went back to Madrid.

The South African World Cup would surely be remembered for many reasons. It was the first Cup to happen in the African continent. The ball used in the event gave the goalkeepers the displeasure of letting many easy balls in. And now the world had a new champion. But the fact that the Spanish will never forget, the captain of the first world title had a distraction off-pitch, and its name was Sara Carbonero.

The end!
